These include Tmall, Taobao, Pinduoduo, JD.com, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, 1688, and online group buying platforms. When purchasing maternal and infant products, nutritional supplements, and especially baby-related products, it's crucial to exercise caution and always shop at reputable offline maternity and baby stores.

Which products and online stores are failing to meet standards? Fan Ge discovered that at least 30+ online stores have been found to be substandard in random inspections over the past six months. Check to see if you've purchased from any of them!

Failure 1:
Baby Food - Multiple online stores, including Pinduoduo and Tmall, are implicated.

According to a notice from the State Administration for Market Regulation, pasta, beef, and Vegetable puree sold at the Pinduoduo Lianjiang Food Store, organic black sesame paste for infants and toddlers sold at the Tmall Baby Cravings flagship store, and apple puree sold at the Tmall Ella Kitchen Maternity and Baby flagship store were found to have quality indicators that did not match the values indicated on the labels. A certain brand of rice noodles sold at the Pinduoduo Dexu Maternity and Baby official flagship store was also found to be contaminated with heavy metals during random inspections. Nutritional products – affected by multiple online stores including 1688, JD.com, Taobao, Pinduoduo, and Tmall.

According to a notice issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation, random inspections of products such as Jiumi Weineri Peptide sold by Yiwu Kangyuzhi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. on 1688, vegan maternal nutrition products sold by Yunxinbei Maternity and Baby on Taobao, and multivitamin and mineral infant nutrition packs sold by the Qiaolebao official flagship store on Pinduoduo were found to have substandard quality indicators. Furthermore, random inspections of multivitamin and mineral gummies sold by the Notland official flagship store on JD.com and camel milk calcium tablets sold by the Xingfucun Pharmacy flagship store on Tmall revealed quality indicators that did not match the values indicated on the labels. Unqualified Category 3:
Milk Powder/Whey Powder – Multiple online stores, including Tmall, Pinduoduo, and Kuaishou, were affected.

According to a notice from the State Administration for Market Regulation, milk powder (non-infant) sold at the Qixuanyi Food Store on Taobao was found to substandard quality indicators after random inspections; probiotic high-calcium camel milk protein powder sold at the Kuaishou Guifeiyan Nutrition and Health flagship store was found to contain microbial contamination; and Luqing 100% Whey Protein Powder sold at the Tmall Lucky Tree Health Food Store and protein powder for special dietary uses sold at the Tmall Huabei Pushide flagship store were found to have quality indicators that did not match the values stated on the labels after random inspections. Unqualified Category 4:
Baby Bottles and Pacifiers – Multiple online stores, including Tmall, JD.com, Xiaohongshu, Taobao, and Douyin, were affected.

Based on the "2024 Shanghai Baby Bottle and Pacifier Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Results" and the "2024 Shanghai Infant and Toddler Pacifier Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Results," Fan Ge discovered that all of the unqualified batches inspected originated from e-commerce channels, including Tmall, JD.com, and other online stores.
