Chloramines Test Kit

CHLORAMINE TEST KIT INSTRUCTIONS
Measurement of FAC (Free Available Chlorine), CC (Combined Chlorine), TC (Total Chlorine) and Chloramine.
(Contents in this kit: Test Vial & Cap, DPD-1 Reagent, DPD-2 Reagent, DPD-3 Reagent, DPD-D Reagent)
(In a 20ml volume of water, 1 drop of DPD-D Reagent = 0.2ppm of Chlorine)

    Chloramines Test Kit (6)

    1. Fill the vial to the 20ml mark.

    2. TESTING FOR FAC: Add 5 drops of DPD-1 reagent to the water sample. Add 5 drops of DPD-2 reagent to the water sample. Cap the vial and shake for 5 seconds. A red color will appear when there is (FAC). If there is a red color, continue to step #3. If there is no red color, there is no (FAC) present, so continue to step # 5.

    3. Remove the cap from the vial and add DPD-D reagent and count the number of drops until the red color fades. You may need to recap the vial and shake, to get the contents to become colorless. From this point, add only 1 drop at a time and repeat shaking until the solution is colorless.

    4. Multiply the total number of drops in step #3 by 0.2 to obtain the concentration of (FAC), in ppm. (Example: 3-drops of DPD-D would result in an (FAC) of 0.6ppm).

    5. TESTING FOR CC: Keep the existing solution in the vial. Add 5 drops of DPD-3 reagent, recap the vial, and shake as noted in step #2. If there is (CC), the solution will turn red again. In this case, continue to step #6. If there is no red color, there is no (CC) present, and your test is concluded. NOTE: If there is no (CC), you do not have Chloramines.

    6. Add DPD-D reagent to the vial and count the number of drops until the red color turns colorless. Mix the contents of the vial and add drops as noted in step #3 until the solution is colorless.

    7. Multiply the number of drops in step #6 by 0.2 to obtain the concentration of CC, in ppm. (Example: 4-drops of DPD-D would result in a CC of 0.8ppm). Rinse-out the vial & cap, and allow to dry before putting them away.

    8. SPECIAL NOTE #1: The Combined Chlorine (CC) is equal to the concentration of Chloramines. In the above example, the result for Chloramines would be 0.8ppm.

    9. SPECIAL NOTE #2: To know the Total Chlorine (TC) present, add your test results for FAC + CC = TC. In the above examples 0.6ppm of FAC + 0.8ppm of CC = 1.4ppm of TC.
